History mainpage

General

Purpose of feature: to constitute a junction for access to historic tracks.

Local TOC

The History mainpage gives access to ended track - i.e tracks with state RECORDED (and UPLOADED - covered later). All outputs shown are based on a time range - i.e. an interval ranging from Time from to Time till - given by The datepickers, as well as choise of Tzone or Tzone's as specified by The Set Tzone for History dialog.

Time range setting controls (top)

Except for the bottom, the History mainpage is occupied by buttons and timepickers to define a time range for its outputs. The page could display as:

Using date only mode

Above, the datepickers are in Date only mode, which is the best way to look at whole days, and also reveals the year.

Tapping   -> Date+clock   changes to Date+clock mode, which is needed if you need to specify a very exact or narrow time range:

Using date+clock mode

The   -> Date+clock   button swapped to a   -> Date only   button - to return to the other mode. Here, a tap on   Whole history   could display:

Whole history

The   Copy down   and   Copy up   buttons help defining narrow time ranges (date+clock mode) or same day (date only mode). Both are disabled when the wheels are set equal.

The Whole history covers all tracks within the given Tzone - in this case the default Tzone (zero).

If you go to the History mainpage before anything was tracked, a message pops up:

Using date mode

The datepickers (top)

Occupies the middle part of the page body and are constituted by two wheels.

All track data are saved with a timestamp which includes seconds. The datepickers don't include seconds - but behind the scene, Time from has a zero seconds suffix, and Time till a 59 seconds suffix.

A track starts with departure time (short: Dep), i.e. the time tracking started. It ends at arrival time (short: Arr), i.e. the time tracking was ended.

The time range of a set of tracks spans from departure time of the oldest track till arrival time of the newest (ended) track within the given Tzone. It cannot expand beyond that.

If you try to drag a wheel beyond these limits, it will bounce back to its lower or upper limit.

On the other hand, the time range of the datepickers can be narrowed down to just one minute - whether that minute is found in any track or not.

Example A: time range is expanded full to comprise whole history:

   ..................datepickers....................
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

Example B: time range only covers part of the history:

                         .....datepickers.....
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

The   Whole history   button is disabled in example A (after having been used), and enabled in example B.

To avoid a Time from > Time till situation, it you drag one wheel beyond the value of the other, the latter will follow.

Whole tracks and track sections (top)

Some output functions operate on whole tracks, other on track sections.

A track section is the straight line connecting two adjacent plots in a same track. A whole track is constituted by track sections for all its plots. Multiple sections can, defined by a time range:

Example 1: track sections are part of a track:

                     -TimeRange-
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....
                     x---------x

Example 2: track sections constitute one whole track:

                    --TimeRange---
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....
                    x------------x

Example 3: track sections extend over more tracks:

            ----------TimeRange----------
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....
            x---- -------------- --x

Showing track sections (top)

For something to be drawn on e.g. the Map or shown in e.g. the Barchart, at least one track section must live within the given time range, meaning at least two plots must have timestamp falling within the time range.

For something to be listed in the Report, just one plot must have timestamp falling within the time range.

Plots may or may not have events attached.

Example C: time range comprises parts of two tracks:

                           ----TimeRange----
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

** Result: parts of both Track2 and Track3 are included.

Example D: time range comprises one whole track and part of another:

                   -------TimeRange-------
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

** Result: whole Track2 and parts of Track3 are included.

Anyway, if nothing can be shown, a popup appears:

mpHistoryMainpage_nothing_2.png

or - if Barchart cannot process a too narrow time range - this may popup:

mpHistoryMainpage_nothing_3.png

Showing whole tracks (top)

Some subpages that operate on whole tracks as explained below.

Example E: Time range comprises one whole track:

                  ----TimeRange----
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

** Result: Track2 is included in e.g. the Tracklist.

Example F: Time range does not comprise any whole track:

                        ----TimeRange----
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

** Result: nothing is included.

Example G: Time range comprises two whole tracks, but not only whole tracks:

              ------------TimeRange-----------------
   ....Track1.... ....Track2.... ....Track3....

** Result: Track2 and Track3 are included.

If nothing can be included in e.g. a Tracklist, a message appears after tapping one of the show buttons:

Output buttons (top)

When you have set a time range, the three buttons at the bottom give different subpage outputs, covering the same period. You can show one (sub)page, return to history, and then show another (sub)page using the same or another time range. The buttons are:

The first two buttons cover functions considered more important than those revealed in the menu - therefore they are accessible directly.

TIP: tap   Whole history   followed by   Tracklist   - and find your newest (ended) track first or last - depending on order - in the Tracklist.

Action on historic tracks or track sections menu (top)

This menu extends the History mainpage button repertoire:

Action on historic tracks or track sections menu

The menu items open:

a): Operates on track sections - b): Operates on whole tracks

x): Always exludes Notes - y): Tracks and / or Notes inclusion directed by the Composition picker.

The Set Tzone for History dialog (top)

A tap on the   TzoneHist   button in the teal blue navigation bar gives the option to choose which Tzone or Tzone's to browse:

The TzoneHist button

As many options as there are Tzone's in use are presented, except an option for the one already chosen - in this case the default Tzone (zero), which is marked in the top list with stars: *0*.

A tap on the Help button opens a popup:

The TzoneHist help

No entitlement (top)

Unless you have Full functionality, and you tap any of the output buttons - excluding the   TzoneHist   button - after having set the datepickers to span more than TEN days, you will be rejected with a message:
