Local TOC

Start of App (top)

Whenever the App is started, the actual App version is shown - and a warning is given:

Start screen

If your installed App has a lower version number than above, it needs to be updated.

Start of App after installation (top)

After an update (top)

If you did an update from the App Store, skip to Main elements of the Track mainpage.

No active subscription (top)

If you just installed the App, or you updated the App and don't have an active subscription, when you tap I AGREE a series of screen applies:

SignIn to iTunes after install, screen 1

The Receipt for an App or In-App Purchase is a record of the sale of the App and of any In-App Purchases made from within the App.

Next, tapping OK opens:

SignIn to iTunes after install, screen 2

Provided your sign in to iTunes Store succeeded, information similar to this is given:

Info to users

After tapping OK, the Track mainpage appears - ready for your input.

Active subscription (top)

If you just installed the App, or you updated the App and do have an active subscription, when you tap I AGREE this is shown like:

Info to users

In this case, a subscription was purchased from an iPad, after which the App was installed on an iPhone (source of screenshot above).

The text installing will in future versions be updating in case of an actual update.

After tapping OK, the Track mainpage appears - ready for your input.

Connection error (top)

In rare cases, this could appear:

Connection error

Main elements of the Track mainpage (top)

After successful Receipt verification, the Track mainpage is seen in its whole:

track mainpage elements

The main elements of this screen are:

The black tab bar holds five icons, each representing a mainpage, whose names appear below the icons. The icon for the active page is highlighted. At start the Track mainpage is active. The tab bar is always visible, except when a keyboard is displayed, an editor is opened, or a subpage - a page activated from a mainpage - is opened.

The green navigation bar gives the name of the page you currently use. Some mainpages have a navigation bar button, like the   Tzone   button above.

This button is for advanced use. The purpose and use of Tzone's is described in the Using Track zones chapter.

The green navigation bar for subpages contain more items than just their names, as will be seen.

The layout, color and contents of a page body varies. The Track mainpage above has a yellow page body, six labelled buttons (3+3), two labelled textfields, a message line ('Welcome ...') and some statistics that will be filled in when tracking.

Only the   New   and the   Tzone   buttons are enabled above - meaning these are the only buttons that in this context (first App start) works. The labels for the other button are dimmed, meaning they are disabled and don't work (yet).

Location Services check and authorization (top)

It is assumed that your device has a working GPS: verify this by an App that uses location services, e.g. the built-in Maps App.

Tab the home button to open the home screen, and open the System Settings App. Check that the Privacy -> Location Services setting is On before continuing:

Next, return to the Sailor Logbook S App and tap   New   to open this dialog:

Authorizing location services

You must allow this to happen. If you don't and later change your mind, you still have the opportunity: when tapping   New   some time later, this dialog opens:

mpTrack_servicesDisabled.png

and after tapping Go to Settings you'll see:

mpTrack_settings.png

and when tapping the Location item this dialog opens:

mpTrack_allow.png

You must tap While Using the App if you want to enable tracking.

Using location services is a privacy issue. However, the App has no hidden communication of tracked locations - or other information - to any third party (Google, Facebook, ...).

After return to the Sailor Logbook S App, tap   New   again to get ready for your first track.
