Form: an editable browser window (screen) found in editors and the Menu.
Panel: a subform.
Checkbox: selects none, one or more options from a group of options by checking and unchecking, i.e. setting and removing a checkmark.
Message box (also called popup): displays a message relating to User error - e.g. input of an unexpected value or pressing a button that does not work in a given context; dismissed by pressing an OK button.
Dialog box (also called popup): displays a message and gives two or more options, one of which is chosen by pressing a CANCEL button.
Link: an underlined word or text that opens another form, list or help page - or moves to another place in a help page - when clicked / tapped.
Dropdown list: an alphabetical ordered list of items, of which one must be selected.
Infowindow: Google Maps pop-up appearing when you click / tap a marker. Can contain a tiny image appendix (gallery) and/or links.
In alphanumeric textfields these special characters are rejected:
*) On a device running iOS 11 (or newer), quotation marks can be 'straight' or 'smart' - the latter is accepted, but is probably useless on a PC/Mac.
A textarea fields may contain most characters and line breaks, except a (straight) quotation mark immediately followed by comma (',).
Emoji symbols are not accepted.
To protect the Sailor Logbook Website against hacking, some words must be avoided in all fields. If you use an illegal word - for example 'modify' - a warning pops up when you leave the field, and it cannot be saved before corrected.
