About lists

General

Lists display recorded data. They have a standard layout, and can launch editors so your data can be updated and deleted. Some lists also allow editors to create new records.

They are started from the Launch panel in the Menu form. When you press a button in the menu, a new window opens. Click the links below to read the relevant chapters:

Some lists, forms or maps are launched from outside the menu. The Harborlocations map for example is started from the Harbor list.

Apart from Edit MyProfile, editors are started from a list (or from other editors). This occurs when you click a link in a list (or in another editor). See About editors

Some lists may also launched from editors - via a Shortcut link. Which in turn may launch lists. To avoid problems with Windows handling, close windows you don't really need.

Printing is done with the browser standard-method for print (ctrl+p or similar).

Layout

A few examples are shown below. In addition, the Introduction has a couple of Cruiselist examples - cruiselists have no NEW RECORD link, because you cannot create cruises directly at the Sailor Logbook Website: the only way is to upload tracks from the App.

Harbor list example

Pressing   Harbor list   in the Launch panel opens:

slb_Lists_about_b.png

The date range covers july 2016, and Overviews in lists? is checked. 190 records are listed. New harbors are created by clicking the NEW RECORD link. Edit a record listed by clicking its record key - here a harbor name. In both cases the Edit Harbor form opens.

In the given date range, some harbors were visited on cruise(s) - their departure time appear as links in the overviews - and some weren't. Clicking a cruise link opens the Edit Cruise form editor.

The MAP links open the Cruisemap for the relevant cruise.

Crewmember list example

Pressing   Crewmember list   in the Launch panel reveals:

slb_Lists_about_a.png

The date range covers 2015 and 2016. The Overviews in lists? is checked. 57 records are listed. New crewmembers are created by clicking the NEW RECORD link. Edit a record listed by clicking its record key - here a crewmember name. In both cases the Edit Crewmember form opens.

In the given date range, some persons participated in cruise(s) - their departure time appear as links in the overviews - and some didn't. Clicking a cruise link opens the Edit Cruise form editor.

The MAP links open the Cruisemap for the relevant cruise.

Description of lists

The uniform layout has a Listheading at the top. It's very similar to the Dialog panel in the editors - in for example the Edit Crewmember form.

A Contentheading follows the Listheading, with:

It's repeated at the end of a list, unless it's empty.

The Basic cruiselist and the Crewmember cruiselist also has an Accumulations line at the bottom.

Contents of lists

The first column of each line is a primary key with a link to launch an editor that can update data in the line - or possibly delete the line.
