Purpose of feature: display, enter and modify Track textfields in a secure manner.
The Track editor opens from:
Partly for technical reasons, partly to protect the Sailor Logbook Website against hacking, some rules apply for texts. If broken, they are considered insecure.
Insecure texts are not saved in the App until corrected. Likewise, if a text is changed so its content is no longer secure, the change will not be saved.
Both Track title and Comments can be edited directly on the Track mainpage. Same rules apply there as described below.
Before a track is modified, these checks are done:
In this example, the word change could be used instead.
Use text based emojis (smileys) instead ;)
The Comments field is for free-text. However, a few rules apply also here:
No room for all of this manual!
Same rules as Insecure words above.
Same rules as Emojis above.
Being a free-form textfield, there are no insecure characters as is the case for the Track title. However, a straight single quotation mark - see below - may not be followed by a comma:
Here the quote is straight: Smart Punctuation is OFF. When ON, this message doesn't apply.
Entering a single space between the quote and the comma would solve the problem, even when Smart Punctuation is OFF.
Btw: the Tzone field is editable above - its background color is white, not Peach Puff as when tracking.
Can be straight or smart, depending on the Smart Punctuation introduced in iOS 11. Find this switch in:
Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Smart Punctuation:
When OFF, the keyboard sends straight quotes - when ON, smart quotes are sent. The setting has influence on whether a quote is considered an insecure character and thus rejected in Track title and Event Text-note.
